6103 AMR AIME : AMR Development and Conformance Test Systems
The 6103 AMR Air Interface Monitor and Emulator
(AIME) has been designed to address the demanding
test requirements posed by the introduction of
AMR technology. It is a modular system which emulates
an AMR capable GSM network and has been developed
specifically for testing the Layer 1 and Layer
3 performance of GSM AMR capable terminals. The
modular concept allows the user to configure the
system to his particular requirements. For Research
and Development applications, the 6103 AMR AIME
is capable of the following functionality:
- Verification of correct coding of frames
by examining data visually at the d interface
(8 coding schemes for full rate, 6 coding schemes
for half rate).
- Confirmation of coding of frames and parity
(each output polynomial can be separately verified).
- Verification of correct coding of frames associated
with DTX.
- Verification of correct coding of RATSCCH
frames.
- Verification of correct implementation of
procedures associated with RATSCCH messages.
- Verification of correct demodulation and decoding.
- Confirmation of the correct operation of the
adaptive nature of AMR speech frames.
- Verification of correct behavior
of the receive sub-system when presented with
frames with bad CRC and invalid in-band signaling
combinations.
- Verification of subjective operation of codecs
(both encode and decode).
A selection of example scripts is provided with
the system and these may be used to form the basis
of a test campaign. A Layer 3 Encoder tool is
also available. This software package allows the
user to quickly and simply encode any standard
GSM 04.08 Layer 3 message for inclusion in the
control script.
The basic 6103 AMR AIME system may be easily
upgraded to allow conformance testing of AMR capable
mobile terminals to 3GPP specification 51.010-1.
