6103 AIME/CT: Protocol Conformance Test Solution for GSM, AMR, EGPRS and UMA/GAN

Aeroflex introduces a comprehensive 2/2.5G protocol conformance system for testing wireless devices supporting 3GPP technologies such as GSM, SIM, SIM SDK, AMR, GPRS, EGPRS, DTM, A-GPS and UMA/GAN, including AMR and DARP layer 1 testing.

The 6103 AIME/CT (Air Interface Monitor and Emulator/Conformance Tester) provides users with a powerful and flexible development tool, as well as full conformance test capabilities, in the 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands. The system retains the full capacity of Aeroflex's successful 6103 AIME system, and in its basic configuration is capable of simultaneous emulation of both a serving and neighbor cell and can be scaled up to support a serving cell and 7 neighbor cells. The platform/test case combination is validated by an independent 17025 accredited test lab with a comprehensive suite of 3GPP TS 51.010 test cases written by Setcom Wireless Products GmbH and supplied as Setcom Wireless Products GmbH's OEM products for GSM, SIM, GPRS and EGPRS, or in-house by experienced engineers at Aeroflex for other 2/2.5G technologies such as AMR, DARP, A-GPS and UMA/GAN.

The test campaign manager allows large numbers of test cases to be run quickly in a campaign of test cases. Test cases from different sections of the 3GPP 51.010 test specification can be mixed into one single campaign such as GSM, EGPRS and UMA/GAN test cases. The 6103 AIME/CT is fully automated and able to control the device under test through AT Commands or a manufacturer specific control interface without any need for human interaction, allowing regression testing and stability tests to be performed overnight or over a weekend.

At the end of a test run, a full set of protocol messaging logs and report files matching the steps listed in the 51.010 test spec are generated for every test case run, highlighting a PASS FAIL or INCONC, providing an easy route to troubleshooting protocol errors and non-compliance issues.

The platform has been designed from the ground up to reduce test times and thereby the time to market of new products going through development, integration and conformance test while forming a future-proof and flexible platform base for testing new 2.5G wireless technologies.

Aeroflex implements a policy of continual improvement and expansion to ensure that the Test System can be easily adapted as future tests and 3G technologies are introduced. Current developments include: 12-channel satellite A-GPS, as well as a full test solution for UMA/GAN, a 3GPP technology where a mobile device can hand off voice calls and data sessions from the GSM access network to a WLAN hotspot and vice versa.

The 6103 AIME/CT is listed as an approved conformance test platform at GCF and PTCRB as platform 11, and as platform 54 when connected to a Comprion IT3 for SIM and SIM SDK testing, or as platform 69 when connected to a Navigation Laboratories Satellite simulator for A-GPS testing.
