The Aeroflex - JcAIR Test Systems T1200 and T1200A product line is undergoing evolutionary changes caused in part by obsolescence issues and new LRU test requirements. The purpose of this (Product Information Letter) PIL is to inform our customers of the changes and the impact they will have on your shops and test capabilities.
Subjects covered:
- Obsolescence of T1200 touch screen part number 15-0130-00.
- T1200 / T1200A Service bulletins Status /Termination of SB 27 CPU board upgrade support and
- Testing of VHF 900B and GLU-910/920
T1200 Touch Screens:
T1200 Fluke, touch screens part number 15-0130-00 are no longer supportable. Once touch screens in existing T1200s fail the unit can no longer be supported by the factory or upgraded with a new touch screen.
There is currently a very limited number of new and used screens that are available on a first come first serve basis. Once this stock is depleted, factory support will cease.
We recommend that all customers take this in to consideration when deciding between upgrading an existing T1200 or purchasing a new unit. Should you choose to upgrade an existing unit and the display fail shortly thereafter, the expense of the upgrade can not be recovered and applied against the purchase of a new T1200A.
T1200 users can purchase a new T1200A as an option to upgrading old units. This unit is functionally interchangeable with the old T1200 and can be used on the same bench. It also has all of the new functions available with all pertinent mods incorporated. It can also be used to test new generation LRUs such as the VHF-900B and GLU-910/920.
T1200/T1200A Service Bulletins Status Report:
SB 27:
This modification is designed to convert earlier versions of the Kustom Electronics and JcAir T1200-00, -05, -10, or -20 Control Display Units to the latest and most advanced configuration; the Tl200-50 or Tl200-55;
The upgraded CPU Board supplied in this modification contains a newer, faster Motorola processor and has significantly more RAM than any of its predecessors. Resident on the board is a full complement of software featuring pre-selected test screens for testing the following avionics units (including the complement new generation of Collins 9000 Series Sensors): ADF, VOR, ILS, DME, HF, VHF, ATC, and LRA. This software supports the latest revisions of the Airbus ABD-0018 and ABD-0048 CFDS directives as well as the most current releases of Boeing's CMC (747-400 & 777 BITE) specifications.
Service Bulletin # 27 CPU cards part number 20-6103-00 is no longer available as of July, 1999. These cards will continue to be supported by the factory and service center indefinitely in their latest version of software 6.05. No new test capabilities will be added to this version of CPU cards. This modification has been superceded by SB 34.
SB 28, 29 and 30 have been superceded by SB 31
SB 31
The purpose of service bulletin 31 was to allow the users of the T1200 and T1200A CDU to access alignment functions for the maintenance of Rockwell Collins 900 series VHF sensors. This software requires the customer to use a Rockwell Collins work around procedure to perform the alignment. SB 31 is only available upon specific customer request until September 1st. SB 31 has been superceded by SB 31A.
SB 32
Service bulletin 31A allows the customer to perform the alignment on RockwellCollins 900 series VHF sensors without a work around procedure. There is no upgrade path for future expansion or capabilities using this CPU board or software level. The upgrade path is SB 34.
SB 33
This service bulletin changes CPU card no 20-6103-00 with a newly designed CPU card 20-6103-10. The new CPU card adds test capabilities for the Thompson MMR and CMC capability. The new version of the software is 7.00. Service bulletin 33 will no longer be available after September 1st 1999.
SB 34
This service bulletin changes CPU card no 20-6103-00 with a newly designed CPU card 20-6103-10. The installation of this service bulletin allows the customer the full capability of all previous versions of T1200 software, in addition to the capability of allowing the customer to perform the alignment on Rockwell Collins 900 series VHF sensors without a work around procedure. The newly designed CPU also allows for virtually unlimited future expansion. The new version of the software is 7.03.
Software Revisions
Software revisions will no longer be tracked with a modification number (mod status), however the currently installed software version is displayed on the opening screen of the T1200. A software revision notice will be written to provide the customer a detailed installation procedure for the installation and testing of the new software.

VHF-900B and GLU-910/920 Test Configurations
Aeroflex/JcAIR Test Systems has two new configurations available using the T1200 or T1200A to test the new VHF-900B and GLU-910/920. Upgrades are available for the T1200 to allow them to continue to be used by customers that already have them in their shops.
