6401 AIME/CT Protocol And Conformance Test SystemsThe 6401 AIME/CT is a 3GPP compliant system simulator, providing protocol test capability for UMTS WCDMA User Equipment (UE).
The system features direct RF connection to the UE and is controlled from a standard Windows XP PC, connected via Ethernet. Easy test selection and automated test execution facilities are provided, as are comprehensive logging facilities. Captured logs can be exported to HTML format, retaining message decode capability. UMTS UE Development TestingFor development testing, complex network scenarios can be emulated, allowing the behavior of the mobile to be examined under controlled conditions. The system is supplied with a range of test scenarios, allowing an immediate start to testing. The 6401 AME/CT supports testing of UMTS R99, Rel-5 and Rel-6 standards including HSDPA and HSUPA. All current FDD frequency bands under 2.2 GHz are supported as standard. A built-in Fading and AWGN capability can be specified, allowing real-world signal conditions to be simulated in the lab.UMTS UE Conformance TestingFor conformance testing, the 6401 AIME/CT is listed at both the GCF and PTCRB (Test Platform 21) and a comprehensive range of approved test cases is available. The industry-standard TTCN-2 test suites developed by 3GPP RAN5 have been independently validated on the 6401 AIME/CT. The built-in Parameter Generator can be used to automatically generate the PICS (Protocol Implementation Compliance Statement) allowing a rapid start to conformance testing. The user interface allows a test campaign to be quickly defined and saved for re-use. The test automation facilities allow the UE interface (AT and MMI commands) to be readily adapted to match the device under test.UMTS A-GPS Testing
The 6401 AIME/CT can be combined with a GPS satellite constellation simulator to provide a comprehensive A-GPS test capability, covering both the standard 3GPP RRC signalling and the OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) SUPL messaging. In addition, the A-GPS Minimum Performance tests defined in 3GPP TS 34.171 are available.
Intersystem Handover (ISHO) Testing
The flexibility of its design enables the 6401 to perform intra- and inter-system handover testing (2G/3G), as well as supporting the development of applications that are key to the success of 3G.
