TETRA World Congress 2005 - Frankfurt, Germany— Nov. 28, 2005 — Aeroflex has announced the availability of a new TETRA Direct Mode option that provides the Aeroflex 3900 Series with comprehensive direct mode call setup and parametric testing capabilities. Complementing the TETRA MS Trunked mode option the new direct mode option extends the platform capability to give test coverage of the radio’s hardware and signaling in areas that have additional demands placed upon them due to the technical differences between Direct and Trunked modes of operation.
“We believe the TETRA Direct Mode (DM) option in conjunction with the Trunked mode option and Base Station option further strengthens the Aeroflex 3900 Series platform as the most comprehensive and powerful TETRA air-interface test tool available in the industry,” says Graham Stevens, Product Manager at Aeroflex.
The 3900 DM option has extensive protocol call setup signaling capability confirming the radio’s ability to accept and differentiate between different call types. The option also provides talk back, test tone and silence capability enabling the receiver and audio functionality to be checked while in direct mode.
With the DM option burst type selection has also been expanded giving greater measurement flexibility and diagnostic capability. The new option provides sophisticated handling for the initial continuous transmissions that occur in direct mode.
Parametric Test & Measurement Functionality with the TETRA Direct Mode Option:
- Burst type selection master (normal / sync), normal, sync, initial, slave
- Measurement of power and power profile taking account of continuous / discontinuous bursts
- Measurement of frequency error, vector error (RMS, peak, residual carrier) and timing error
- Sophisticated graphical displays such as constellation and phase trajectory displays for easy interpretation of measurements
3900 Protocol / Functionality:
- Extensive call status/protocol history and information displays
- Extensive call setup: mobile or test set originated group / open group (broadcast) / private call (including presence check) / emergency calls
- Talk-back, silence, test tone for receiver and audio evaluation
- Mobile/test set transmit request, mobile/test set end of transmission
- Test set timers for test set transmit time, quiet time before test set transmission, quiet time before implicit clear down (reservation time)
- Explicit call clear down from mobile/test set or implicit clear down on mobile/test set quiet time expiry
About the 3900 Series Digital Radio Test Set
The Aeroflex 3900 Series is a robust digital radio test platform that incorporates an RF receiver, signal generator, powerful DSP sub-systems and integrated instrument applications software. Its future-proof, modular design and software re-configurable digital architecture not only provide a flexible test capability along with highly accurate and repeatable measurement performance for today’s PMR test requirements, but also ensures that advances in PMR technology can be managed by the platform. The 3901 covers a frequency range up to 1 GHz. The 3902 expands the operating range of the radio test set to 2.7 GHz for both generating and receiving analog and digital RF signals.
Pricing and Availability
The 3901/3902 and their TETRA options are competitively priced against current offerings and delivery is around 8 weeks from receipt of order. Please refer to your regional sales office for detailed price and delivery information.
