IFR EXTENDS MICROWAVE SYSTEM ANALYZER'S REACH WITH INCREASED BANDWIDTH CAPABILITY

Wichita, Kan. — June 1, 2000 — IFR Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: IFRS) announced today that it has added two new models to its 6840 Series microwave system analyzer product line. The new models enhance the system’s flexibility and ability to measure microwave signals up to 26.5 GHz.

The new 6846 microwave system analyzer measures transmission characteristics of 7 GHz radio feeds and spectral purity up to the third harmonic. The instrument includes an 8.4 GHz swept source and scalar analyzer with a 24 GHz spectrum analyzer.

The 6847 microwave system analyzer has a source and scalar analyzer that extends to 20 GHz and a 26.5 GHz spectrum analyzer. This allows feeder measurements on 7 GHz, 13 GHz and 15 GHz radios with spectrum and modulation envelope measurements on 23 GHz radios.

"Our customers requested new configurations of equipment to address their specific requirements. The flexibility of the 6840 Series allowed us to meet these needs and create a cost effective and efficient means of measuring microwave radio equipment and installations," said Keith Slinn, microwave product manager, IFR Systems.

Both the 6846 and 6847 microwave system analyzers have already been supplied and are in use at customer sites. Rostelecom, a Russian telecommunications company, purchased the 6846. The 6847 was purchased by the Radio Systems Group of NTL, a U.K.-based telecommunications service provider.

The modular construction of the 6840 Series allows easy modification to accommodate specific customer requests and needs.

Availability

The 6846 microwave system analyzer costs $49,570 (U.S.). The 6847 microwave system analyzer costs $55,078 (U.S.). Both models are available within four weeks of receipt of order.

About the 6800 series

IFR microwave test solutions have established a worldwide reputation as powerful tools for a diverse range of microwave applications. IFR’s 6840 Series is the most comprehensive RF and microwave component and subsystem analyzer on the market today.
