Aeroflex's IQCreator Signal Generation Software Adds AWGN Feature
to Simulate Real-World Mobile Carrier Noise Conditions

Now Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) Can Be Super-Imposed onto Any Modulation Format

Stevenage, England-August 16, 2005 To test mobile handsets for real-world noise conditions, Aeroflex is now including an AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) source with its IQCreator software. The addition of the AWGN feature transforms an RF signal generator into a noise generator.

IQCreator is a free Windows-based software application that enables a user to set up a wireless carrier modulation scheme and then create an arbitrary waveform file for use with the Aeroflex IFR 3410 and Aeroflex 3020 PXI series RF signal generators. IQCreator supports a wide variety of modulation types and is constantly updated by Aeroflex. It is available for download at: http://www.aeroflex.com/products/signalsources/IQCreator.cfm?download=form.

IQCreator with AWGN allows users to easily and accurately add AWGN to any modulated signal without complex calibration. IQCreator's AWGN feature is ideal for generating flexible and precise standalone AWGN power and repeatable signal-to-noise ratios (carrier noise or C/N). A precise and repeatable in-channel AWGN is especially important when determining a mobile receiver's sensitivity threshold.

IQCreator's AWGN feature can also add noise in defined bandwidths, as a single interferer on one carrier signal or within multi-carrier applications. Noise can also be added in-channel or in adjacent channels-on a single signal or among signals in a multi-carrier application.

About IQCreator Software
IQCreator is a Windows-based software application for RF signal generators that enables a user to set up a modulation scheme and then create an arbitrary waveform generator file. It is designed for use in conjunction with either the Aeroflex IFR 3410 series or the Aeroflex 3020 PXI series signal generators. Graphical displays of the waveform FFT, vector and constellation diagrams, and other waveforms can be viewed and exported for use in other Windows applications. The arbitrary waveform generator file may be saved or downloaded into the instrument itself. User-defined configurations can also be saved. Consequently, it is possible to load previously saved setups to regenerate the arbitrary waveform generator files quickly and easily.

The many capabilities of IQCreator include: generic modulation, AWGN (announced today), TDMA digital standards, modulation impairments, WLAN (802.11a/b/g), CDMA digital standards, and extensive graphical capabilities.
